British café favourites sit alongside speciality coffee, Adeni tea, Italian-style omelettes and paninis, with influences from cultures across the city. The business had grown into something that didn't fit a single category. That variety was part of its character. The brand simply wasn't showing it.

How do you bring a culturally diverse menu under one identity, without losing the regulars who've known it for years?

It needed to move forward without feeling unfamiliar. And rather than presenting each influence as a separate idea, it needed a visual language that made the variety feel natural, welcoming and unmistakably Pastry House.

We started with what had already lasted, then found a way to let the variety speak with one voice.

The aim was never to erase that, but to decide what should be carried forward and express it with more confidence. Twenty years of trading had built familiarity, warmth and a place in the community. Illustration became the answer. A bespoke style let us show products, personalities and cultural references in one consistent language, flexible enough to celebrate variety without the brand feeling fragmented.

Rather than simplifying that variety, we made it the heart of the brand: Global Culture, Locally Made.

For two decades, the café had brought different tastes, traditions and communities together under one roof. The logo, typography, colour and bespoke illustrations connect cakes, coffee, Adeni tea and café favourites into one visual world. Applied across more than 35 touchpoints, the system gives every part of Pastry House a common thread.

The café feels consistent, stands out more publicly and reflects what customers already valued, with a visual language flexible enough for future products, campaigns and seasonal communication.

Good products, cultural variety, warmth and a welcoming place in Birmingham. Pastry House didn't need to become something different. It needed a brand that finally felt as distinctive as the business already was.
